DSC 2212 Disaster Response, Mitigation and Recovery

This course examines three of the four phases of emergency management: response, mitigation, and recovery. For the mitigation phase students identify actions that can prevent emergencies, reduce chances of emergency occurring, and reduce the damaging impacts of unavoidable emergencies. For the response phase students discuss actions that save lives, prevent further property damage, and provide incident stabilization. For the recovery phase students develop methods to return a community to normal operations post-incident.
