DTE 1050 Dental Materials (N)

This course emphasizes the nomenclature and identification of physical and mechanical properties of materials utilized in the dental laboratory and dental office as relates to prosthodontic restoration construction and production. Topics include structure and dental materials; mechanical characteristics; impression materials; model and die materials; waxes and pattern materials; metals and alloys; adhesives and cements for dental restorations; composites; porcelains; acrylics; thermoplastics; finishing, polishing, and cleaning abrasives and compounds; disinfectants; and other materials such as acids, separators, fluxes, wetting agents, gasses and alcohols used in the laboratory. This course includes a section on essential mathematics for processes and equipment used in the construction of dental restorations.
