EEX 4760 Assistive Technology for Students with Autism
This course is a broad introduction to educational and assistive technology (AT) used for instruction of students with low incidence disabilities with a particular emphasis on students with autism. It is designed to allow special educators and others to analyze and apply research-based strategies in the application of AT in classrooms, schools, and school districts. Students critically examine strategies for creating supportive environments for students to effectively use high and low tech AT devices, including those for augmentative/alternative communication systems. Particular attention is given to issues related to AT assessment, implementation, and prevention of AT discontinuance in collaboration with other professionals and family members.
