CNT 4406 Network Security and Cryptography

In this course, students explore the principles, protocols, and technologies used to secure modern networks and protect data through cryptography. Students learn symmetric and asymmetric encryption, public key infrastructure, and the cryptographic foundations of protocols such as TLS, HTTPS, SSH, IPsec, and PGP. Topics include wireless security, VPN configuration, email protection, and modern authentication frameworks including multi-factor authentication and federated identity. Through hands-on labs and applied scenarios, students develop the skills needed to assess vulnerabilities, configure secure communications, and implement cryptographic solutions that address real-world IT security challenges.
