Student Life

While academic coursework is central to the mission of Indian River State College, it represents only one dimension of the student experience. The Office of Student Life is dedicated to enriching that experience by engaging students in meaningful activities that foster leadership development and support student-initiated programming focused on personal, social, and intellectual growth. These opportunities include student government, clubs and organizations, leadership development initiatives, and co-curricular skill building. The Office of Student Life also oversees student conduct, student wellness, residential life, and other student-centered services. Collectively, these efforts aim to cultivate a strong sense of belonging and connection for students at Indian River State College.
Indian River State College offers students access to a wide range of involvement opportunities designed to support their success both inside and outside the classroom. These include the First Year Experience Program https://irsc.campuslabs.com/engage/organization/fye, which assists freshman students in their transition to college life; more than 50 clubs and student organizations that provide diverse leadership and engagement opportunities; and the River Pathway Leadership Program. Students may also participate in professional and honor societies. Together, these activities enhance the overall learning experience and encourage holistic student development. All clubs and organizations are open to IRSC students, and participation is strongly encouraged.
IRSC clubs and organizations operate in accordance with District Board of Trustees policies and administrative procedures to ensure compliance with applicable state and local regulations and to promote a safe and well-managed campus environment. Students can explore involvement opportunities through RiverLife, the College’s student engagement portal, accessible via the MyRiverPortal. Additional information and support are available through the Office of Student Life, located in the Koblegard Student Union (KSU Office 112) at the Massey Campus in Fort Pierce, or by visiting RiverLife https://irsc.campuslabs.com/engage/actioncenter/organization/studentengagement/about.
Students can obtain an Indian River State College parking decals for their vehicles and student identification cards at the Office of Student Life; both are provided at no cost and are required for accessing campus services and parking privileges.
In addition to these services, the Office of Student Life oversees and approves all instances of student travel, whether for academic purposes or extracurricular activities. This includes travel associated with student organizations, field experiences, or other college-sponsored events, ensuring that all trips align with College policy and student safety standards.
