CHM 2210 Organic Chemistry I
Students are introduced to the electronic and structural features of carbon-containing compounds. The relationship between chemical structures and geometry to chemical reactions and product formation are covered. Reactions of major focus are the following: Acid-base reactions, radical halogenations of alkanes, Sn1, Sn2, E1 and E2. IUPAC nomenclature of alkanes, alkenes and alkyl halides is also a major focus.
