Evaluation of Post Secondary Transfer Credits

Once all transcripts have arrived, a formal evaluation of transfer credit will take place as follows:

• Credits will be evaluated for courses from institutions that are accredited by regional or formerly regional accrediting associations. 
• Credits from accrediting agencies that are recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDOE) may be evaluated, provided the institution participates in Florida's Statewide Course Numbering System and/or the student submits documentation of instructor credentials and a syllabus for each course.
• All military training, experience, or coursework that appears in the Florida Department of Education Credit or Clock hour for Military Equivalency list will be evaluated upon The River’s receipt of the student’s transcript of the training or coursework. (6A-10.024).

• Transfer credit is awarded for eligible coursework in accordance with College policy. Effective Fall 2026, grades earned at other institutions are not included in the calculation of the student's cumulative College grade point average, and transfer courses are identified on the student's academic transcript with a "T" preceding the grade.
• Courses in which the student made an insufficient grade to earn transfer credit will be recorded on the student’s academic record, but will not be calculated in the cumulative College grade point average.

• Transfer courses that are not equivalent to The River's courses will not count toward a degree or certificate.
• The awarding of transfer credit does not guarantee that all accepted credits will apply toward a student's chosen degree or certificate program. Students are encouraged to consult with an academic advisor to determine how accepted transfer credits apply to their program of study and degree requirements.
• Courses from any Health Science program will not automatically transfer even if a comparable course exists.
• All evaluated courses may count toward a student's attempted hours for financial aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).

The College accepts eligible credits of a grade of D or higher in all undergraduate courses. However, a grade of C is required for certain General Education and upper-level courses, and as a prerequisite for other courses. Please consult an Academic Advisor for further clarification.
